ABOUT US

Founded in May, 1952, under the leadership of Dr. R.W. Bevington ("Brother Bob"), the Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle has been a leading voice in the Greater Knoxville Area for fundamental Christianity, soul-winning, Bible teaching and preaching, and Christian education.  Brother Bob's  vision was to build a church that would introduce Knoxville to some of the nation's great preachers, men such as John Rice, Lester Roloff, Dolphus Price, Lee Roberson, Monroe Parker, among others.  The church began a bus ministry in 1960 that continues to this day.  Since 1973, Knoxville Baptist Christian School has educated thousands of young people, including those now serving in the pastorate, missions, and Christian education.

In 2008, the church called Bro. Tony Greene to continue the leadership of Dr. Bevington, who retired from the pastorate at age eighty-one.  The following year, Bro. Bob was called Home right after finishing his daily radio broadcast.  Bro. Greene continues to guide the church in the old -time truths of God's Word, with the emphasis on reaching others with the Gospel of Christ.  The church continues to support numerous mission families throughout the world, as well.

Those looking for Bible preaching and Christ-honoring music will find a welcome spot among the faithful and friendly folks at the Tabernacle.
